This CME module addresses the methodology used in creating performance measures and their importance to practitioners, as they are key indicators of the quality of care being rendered. In this module, you will learn the role that Clinical Practice Guidelines play, along with the importance of properly framing your PICO questions for measure development, guiding principles and benefits of measures, and how they are used in a clinical setting. This module also outlines specific types of measures, their anatomy, and necessary key components within a measure specification. Guidance is provided on interpreting CPG recommendations for measure development, and what fail points can lead to an ineffective measure.
