How has the AAOS helped you during residency?
What has been most beneficial to me are all the excellent educational resources that AAOS makes available.

As a Resident Member, which AAOS resources do you use most and why?
There are multiple different education platforms from AAOS that I use often. The JAAOS review articles are excellent quick summaries that are easy to digest and provide a basic framework of understanding for learners that are new to a topic. The Orthopedic Video Theater is great for reviewing clinical videos of surgical techniques. The online on-demand courses and instructional course lecture series from the annual meeting are very helpful for more in-depth learning on certain topics. Lastly, I’m planning on going to an in-person hands-on skills course this year which I’m excited for.

What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
From my dad who helped me understand that if you want to be good at something you need to be committed and have a strong work ethic, over a long period of time, and to not be deterred by setbacks or failures in the short term.

What’s your go-to productivity trick?
I try to use to-do lists for any tasks that need completing. For studying, I just need to turn my phone off and remove any other distractions.

What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?
Being better at keeping in touch with friends and family. Residency can make you very insular at times and it’s helpful to remember to be active about maintaining the relationships outside of work.

What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
Spending time with my wife and very energetic dog. Movies, reading books for fun/learning something other than medicine, hiking, golf, swimming, cooking, or going out for good food.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
I had a prior career in finance before going into medicine.
