Why did you join AAOS?
I joined the AAOS for the endless number of educational resources and networking opportunities. As the preeminent professional organization within orthopaedics, the AAOS fosters a community dedicated to advancing the field. From research and education to mentorship and advocacy, this organization has provided benefits essential to my development as an Orthopaedic Surgeon.
How do you define success?
I define success as reaching your fullest potential, which is different for everyone. A successful person is someone who sets ambitious, yet attainable goals and achieves them, while appreciating and learning from the setbacks within the journey.
Who is your biggest inspiration and why?
My biggest inspirations are my parents. Both relied on self-motivation and ambition to get to where they are today and watching their actions has instilled that same drive in me. They taught me that life is about finding your passion and sticking to it. I could not have asked for better role models.
How has the AAOS helped you throughout your career?
At this stage in my training, the educational resources that the AAOS has to offer have been extremely helpful. The Orthopedic Video Theater, ResStudy and JAAOS articles are resources that I use daily.
What advice would you give to new members of AAOS?
Network. The importance of networking within this community cannot be overstated. Finding mentors early to push and advocate for you is essential. But also, it’s important to remember where you started, and give back to those hoping to follow in your footsteps.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
I shot a hole in one at a high school golf tournament.
