The network AAOS has offered has helped me get connected with people all over the country and move me towards accomplishing the aspirations I set out for myself.
As a Resident Member, which AAOS resources do you use most and why?
I love using ResStudy. Once I started using that resource for my primary study habits, I saw my OITE score increase substantially
What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
The best advice I received was to make every decision patient centered. When having patient outcome as your primary goal, it is hard to be lead astray. I received this advice from my chair, Dr. Lisa Lattanza, and it has helped navigate residency successfully.
What’s your go-to productivity trick?
My go-to productivity trick is to write out my goals and set out scheduled times to accomplish the goals. I try to make tentative deadlines to keep myself accountable
What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?
The main thing I'm currently working on to make a habit is understanding other people's perspectives. There are many stressors in healthcare and when I try to understand multiple points of view, it allows me to practice more patience and discipline
What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
My greatest enjoyment comes from hanging out with my son, Hamza. I love being outside and being active. I'm blessed with amazing co-residents that I love spending time with
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
I am refugee born in the Gaza Strip, Palestine. It has incredibly shaped my goals in healthcare.
