How has the AAOS helped you throughout your career?
I was able to attend an AAOS Meeting as a Medical Student, and it was a game changer that influenced me to choose orthopedic surgery. Since then, AAOS has always been a great organization for staying up to date in the specialty, with very useful resources, guidelines, and publications, and outstanding meeting experiences and courses with great networking.
As an International Member, which AAOS resources do you use most and why?
AAOS Clinical Practice Guidelines, given that it is a reference that we can adapt to our local realities, in order to manage our patients, and Orthopaedic Video Theater because it gives access to detail on top-of-the-line surgical techniques we may want to apply.
What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
When performing surgery don't rush, take the time needed to do the best job for your patient. With experience, speed will come. It was given to me by one of my mentors Dr. Adrien Roa-Zoppi - AO Trauma Faculty Member.
What’s your go-to productivity trick?
Planning ahead. In my opinion, to be productive you must plan for success and try not to improvise on the go. Although improvising is sometimes necessary, usually it will waste your time and probably get you into trouble. This applies to surgeries, conferences, travel, etc.
What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?
Setting aside free time as part of my agenda to relieve stress and exercise. Sometimes we get ourselves so loaded with work that we forget about our well-being.
What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
BBQ grilling with friends & family, attending live concerts and weightlifting.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
I am a huge Pro Wrestling Fan (WWE) since I was 8 years old, up to this day.
