Why did you join AAOS?
I joined AAOS during my second year of residency program. I always considered AAOS a benchmark in orthopaedics, as it was a way to stay up-to-date on the latest news in orthopaedic surgery and improve my knowledge.
How do you define success?
In my opinion, success is doing what you love in the best manner you can. Work hard, learn a lot, make sacrifices and success will find you.
Who is your biggest inspiration and why?
My father, one of the kindest, simplest, and most honest people I ever knew. I also have to thank him for helping me to be a good doctor and orthopaedic surgeon, since he’s an orthopaedic surgeon too.
How has the AAOS helped you throughout your career?
Thanks to AAOS I have always been up-to-date throughout my career on the latest releases in orthopaedic surgery, especially about hip and knee replacement surgery, my preferred field. I had the opportunity to take advantage of the newest guidelines about several topics to ensure my patients always receive the best treatment choice. I could also keep in touch with the highest level of publications available in literature in a simple and smart way, thus avoiding loss of time. AAOS is a warranty of high-level products and it should be mandatory for all orthopaedic surgeons to stay on top and improve their knowledge and standard care for patients.
What advice would you give to new members of AAOS?
Take advantage of all benefits and opportunities the AAOS gives you. It’s one of the best resources to help you evolve from a normal orthopaedic surgeon to a top one.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
One of my greatest passions is playing piano. I did several concerts for piano during high school, and I still have a grand piano in my room at home.
