How has the AAOS helped you throughout your career?
AAOS is an integrated resource of knowledge, experience, innovation, research, and connections. These are the required elements of success and AAOS helped me to progress in my career by the utmost use of these resources.
As an International Resident Member, which AAOS resources do you use most and why?
The International Resident Member portal is full of gems. For me I found the Orthopedic Video Theatre (OVT) very helpful, there is a large number of educational videos in my areas of interest; Foot and Ankle and Pediatrics. These videos are to the point which is very helpful for a quick look. They are very clear and informative. The webinars and the JAAOS are just as important as the OVT. They are continuously updated with cutting-edge articles and topics.
What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
This advice was from my mentor Dr. Rikan. He advised me that every time before doing any surgery, I have to read the anatomy and revise the surgical steps the day before the surgery. This always keeps the steps fresh in your mind and reminds you of any forgotten tricks.
What’s your go-to productivity trick?
Breaking down the job needed to be done into smaller tasks. Writing them down on my organizer. Achieving them in a framed time limit to keep track of time. Asking for help as well is a great trick for connection, adding extra hands to work, and helping others to be involved and productive.
What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?
Every day I try to work for 15 minutes on my research topics. I know that we are very busy during our training, but taking small steps forward will make a huge impact on the final destination.
What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
Travel takes me to another world. Cooking with my beautiful family. Reading and learning new languages: ¡mucho gusto a todos!
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
As I love to travel, I visited 14 states in less than 2 years.
