Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Fellow
University of California, Davis / Reno Orthopedic Center Foot and Ankle Fellowship
Sacramento, CA and Reno, NV
How has the AAOS helped you throughout your career?
Prior to residency, I had been to the AAOS Annual Meeting to present research and it helped confirm for me that orthopedics was what I wanted to do. During residency, I used the SAE exams in AAOS Res Study to prepare for the OITE and ABOS part 1 exams.
As a Fellowship Member, which AAOS resources do you use most and why?
During fellowship, I've used the JAAOS to stay up to date with areas of orthopedics outside my sub-specialty.
What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
I don't think there is one best piece of advice they've ever given me, but my parents have given me a lot of valuable advice.
What’s your go-to productivity trick?
Having kids close together during residency has forced my wife and I to be very flexible and efficient with time management.
What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?
We have been trying to take advantage of being in Sacramento and Reno during my fellowship year by bringing our kids to national parks, hiking trails, and interesting new places.
What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
Running, being on the water, and playing with my kids.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
Soon after the end of my college wrestling career, I won a giant cookie-cake eating contest at the University of Michigan and was given a commemorative shirt.
