How has the AAOS helped you throughout your career?
My first experiences with AAOS were at the Annual Meeting in 2017 in San Diego and in 2018 in New Orleans as a med student sponsored by the Nth Dimensions program. As someone without an ortho program at my home institution, this was an invaluable resource. I attended courses that provided advice on the application process and hands-on casting and sawbones labs. Nth Dimensions and the AAOS provided immense educational and networking opportunities during a very formative time in my career.

As a Fellowship Member, which AAOS resources do you use most and why?
I used ResStudy to prepare for Boards in residency and have been using AAOS ACCELERATE's career map in my job hunt this year. And, of course, I’ll be attending this year’s Annual Meeting here in San Diego. I’m looking forward to all the sports medicine and career development presentations.

What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
My dad has given me tons of advice through the years and jokes that I’m always “copying him.” The highest form of flattery. In his wedding speech to us this past November, my dad advised, “Do something every day to invest in your health, happiness, and success.”  Definitely something I aspire to do.

What’s your go-to productivity trick?
I’ve found that breaking projects into smaller seemingly more feasible and less time-consuming tasks makes things less overwhelming. I stay organized by making lists on the sticky note app on my computer, the reminder app on my phone, or written down on paper. I set deadlines for myself and put them as events on my Google Calendar app so they pop up as notifications on my phone and remind me of anything that’s time sensitive.

What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?
Getting at least 10,000 steps a day. My husband, Renatus, and I like to take walks in the evening around our apartment, UTC, and UCSD, so this has been very doable.

What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
I love traveling. We’re in the process of planning a trip after graduation and making stops in Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Greece, and Turkey. It helps that my mom is a travel agent and can get us great deals, and it also helps that I’m an obsessive planner. I also enjoy cooking. I’m constantly trying new recipes that come across my TikTok feed and those learned from the cooking class at our apartment complex. I enjoy being outdoors and on the water, boating/sailing and kayaking. I have a massive swan float that we used to take out on the Finger Lakes when we lived in Rochester.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
I was a theatre minor in college, which feels like so long ago, and loved the playwriting/screenwriting aspect of it. This whole journey of med school and residency has provided lots of stories and inspiration. Will have to find some time to work on it soon. Stay tuned :)
