How has the AAOS helped you throughout your career?
I joined the AAOS to give back to the orthopaedic community, engage with my colleagues, and advocate for my profession. The AAOS sets the tone for orthopaedic practice in the United States and throughout the world and by contributing to this community, I hope to help shape how we deliver high quality care to patients. Furthermore, the AAOS gives us the opportunity to connect with colleagues through the annual meeting and numerous other activities available. By joining together and learning from others, we are truly able to grow as orthopaedic surgeons. Finally, the AAOS gives us the platform to advocate for our profession and our patients.

As a Candidate Member, which AAOS resources do you use most and why?
As a Candidate member, I use the online learning platform to continue learning about orthopaedic topics and stay up to date on current concepts.

What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
The best advice I was ever given was to learn something every day, which one of my mentors in residency told me. In medicine and in orthopaedics, practice changes every day, and it is important for us to keep up with new evidence and practice trends so we can treat our patients with the highest level of care. Furthermore, learning does not just come from reading books and articles, it also includes learning from your partners and peers.

What’s your go-to productivity trick?
My go-to productivity trick is to make to-do lists for all my tasks and for each day. That way, I feel like I am making progress every day rather than waiting until the deadline to finish the whole project.

What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?
I am trying to make mindfulness a habit. Life as a surgeon can occasionally be hectic and taking time each day to calm my mind helps me think clearer.

What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
I enjoy playing tennis and working out. I also enjoy traveling and exploring new places with my wife.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
I am an avid Bhangra dancer, which is something I started to engage in during my school’s cultural shows and have continued. Bhangra is a fun form of Indian dance!
