How has the AAOS helped you throughout your career?
The AAOS has been an integral part of my orthopedic journey starting when I first attended the Annual Meeting as a medical student. Ever since then it continued to serve as an opportunity to share our clinical research, network with the greater orthopedic community, and connect with senior clinicians who have become lifelong mentors.
As a Candidate Member, which AAOS resources do you use most and why?
The AAOS Clinical Practice Guidelines continue to serve as a helpful evidence-based resource for the diagnosis, treatment, and controversies of various orthopedic conditions. OrthoInfo is another evidence-based resource that my patients and I have found very impactful in augmenting our discussion on various orthopedic conditions.
What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
In 9th grade, my mother went back to nursing school, but because English was her third language, I often saw her struggling. As a result, we became study partners. Frequently I would help her type papers, create flashcards, design posters, and study anatomy. Little did I know this new relationship would help me realize the importance of collaboration. This philosophy has dramatically informed my perspective on the practice of medicine and has allowed me to form very collaborative partnerships in life.
What’s your go-to productivity trick?
Place your task list in a universal location that you can access on multiple devices (Computer, Cell phone) and settings (Home, Work).
What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?
Creating a routine of exercise and physical activity at least 3 times a week while building surgical practice.
What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
Spending time with my wife, family, and friends.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
I first drove a car when I was 4 years old, ask me about the story in person!
