Why did you join AAOS?
I joined AAOS to support and participate in the preeminent organization that represents our profession and community as orthopaedic surgeons in the United States. Additionally, AAOS provides tools and benefits that promote my success as an orthopaedic surgeon such as educational resources, the Annual Meeting, patient learning tools, research, and networking opportunities.
How do you define success?
My definition of success is multi-dimensional, and it has changed over time during various phases of life as my goals evolved. For me right now, success is my ability to integrate my role as an orthopaedic surgeon with my family roles of wife, mother, daughter, and sister. The most fulfilling of days are those in which I can do it all!
Who is your biggest inspiration and why?
My dad is my biggest inspiration. He is an orthopaedic surgeon, and I took an interest in his work from a young age, always impressed by the impact he had on his patients. Moreover, he exemplified the values that I carry forward in my life.
How has the AAOS helped you throughout your career?
My career has been positively influenced by the AAOS through networking, research, and education.
What advice would you give to new members of AAOS?
Use the resources available to you to strengthen your practice as an orthopaedic surgeon, strive for continual growth, and provide the best possible care to your patients.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
I am a young mother of 3, including twin girls and a boy! They are the light of my life! I am an avid athlete and enjoy running, cycling, yoga, skiing, and rowing (though now I take what I can get with kids in tow).
