Wade B. Wines, PA-C

Why did you join AAOS?

I joined AAOS for the wide range of educational opportunities offered to physician assistants. Through the online journal search and review articles, I have expanded my knowledge base and started a small journal club with my peers.

How do you define success?

I think defining success can portend an idle mind so for me, success comprises helping patients to improve outcomes and knowing that I've learned something new each day while helping the public.

Who is your biggest inspiration and why?

My biggest inspiration is Dr. Matthew Sardelli. He balances a busy clinic schedule seeing all-comers in Flint, Michigan regardless of insurance. He works day-in and day-out on educating Flint area residents, physician assistants, balances several committees, takes care of several semi-professional sports teams, dozens of high school teams, and does it with grace, while remaining humble and humorous.

What do you love most about AAOS?

I love the educational opportunities that AAOS provides physician assistants. Since becoming a member it has greatly advanced my knowledge base. From the great courses I've attended to the online resources, there is nothing else that currently compares for physician assistants.

What advice would you give to new members of AAOS?

I would tell new members to take advantage of the courses. Post-COVID, I know I will be attending more courses. The Workers Compensation course was a great addition to my clinical skills.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?

Not many people know that I can identify hundreds of species of North American birds by song alone and that I can solve a rubik’s cube in under a minute.
