Jill T. Eggers-Knight, PA-C
Physician Assistant
Virginia Mason Medical Center
Seattle and Federal Way, WA
Why did you join AAOS?
I felt that joining was imperative to be as involved as much as I can be with AAOS, not only to be an integral part of the orthopaedic community, but to have access to exceptional educational resources. I feel very fortunate that AAOS has given Physician Assistants such an opportunity to become Members of this esteemed society. I have taken advantage of some of these resources and found them to be unbiased and extremely helpful in my advancement of becoming the best clinician that I can be. Again, thank the powers that granted us this privilege. I also believe that this builds propitious camaraderie amongst us and the surgeons.
How do you define success?
Being the best clinician possible and knowing that my patients understand that I do whatever I can for them and trying to provide tailor cutting edge medicine while incorporating their desires regarding treatment.
Who is your biggest inspiration and why?
As stated previously, that gives me the most satisfaction. Also, to deliver medicine with a sense of humor when I can because I realize that levity can make patients more comfortable and increases the sense of connectivity.
How has the AAOS helped you throughout your career?
AAOS has helped by providing great conferences even before I was able to join AAOS and to connect with my colleagues. JBJS also has events to connect with the people that I work with distantly. I am an associate editor and publisher of JBJA/JOPA. They have had several gatherings for our groups at these conferences. What advice would you give to new members of AAOS?
I would really encourage PA's and ARNPs to join for the reasons stated above and to take advantage of the educational advantages.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
I really enjoy lexicology and play on words. Yes, perhaps obnoxious at times to some individuals.
