Why did you join AAOS?

Per the recommendation of one of my Physician colleagues and mentors, Dr. Darin Allred. He said I would be able to learn the most up-to-date and concise information on orthopaedics by learning from AAOS and attending an AAOS conference. I graduated from PA school in August 2020 and started practicing in September 2020, so I am relatively new to practicing medicine and new to the orthopaedic specialty, so I needed all the help I could get, and I felt AAOS would be a beneficial resource for me to use both now and going forward.

How do you define success?

The ability to spend meaningful time with family and friends and make a valuable contribution to society.

Who is your biggest inspiration and why?

My biggest inspiration is my mother. She has shown me that hard work pays off by working through hard times and achieving her professional and personal goals. She has always pushed me and supported me throughout all my endeavors to work hard and strive to always better myself. This was true throughout PA school, and now as I am pursuing my Doctor of Medical Science degree.

How has the AAOS helped you throughout your career?

As a new member of AAOS since June 2021, I have had limited exposure to the benefit that AAOS offers. Despite this, I have loved the ability to access JAAOS and learn and review material there, and I look forward to next year where I plan to attend the annual AAOS conference!

What advice would you give to new members of AAOS?

Explore the various benefits of being an AAOS member by combing through the website and discovering new resources to add to your toolbox. Also, join me next year at the Annual Meeting!

Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?

I love to go to thrift stores and yard sales and get a good deal. Sometimes it is about getting something I need, other times it is about the thrill of buying low and selling high!
