How has the AAOS helped you throughout your career?
As a foreign medical graduate, I’m immensely grateful to the Academy for helping me throughout my career in the United States. It has helped me obtain a vast amount of information on pretty much every topic in orthopaedics, helped me learn and study facts and techniques necessary in my formation and in my practice. I’ve attended every AAOS Annual Meeting since 2006, and I look forward it every year. I’ve attended some of the courses AAOS offers, which have been exceptional.
As an Affiliate Orthopaedic Member, which AAOS resources do you use most and why?
I continuously use multiple resources from AAOS, including hands-on surgical skills courses, which are amazing. I’ve logged in on interesting webinars and learn so much from the OVTs, in which I learn surgical techniques which I put into practice. I find JAAOS to be one of the best journals to find review articles to expand my knowledge and use to teach residents. Being in academics, I recently started using the ROCK (Resident Orthopaedic Core Knowledge), which is a great tool.
What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
“Work hard, as you set your path throughout your career. No matter how hard it may get, never give up!” ….. advice given by my father. Best words I still follow today.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
- I love horses. I grew up riding horses just for fun and I grew to love them. I don’t ride that much as I wish. One day, I hope to own one or more horses and dedicate more time to them.
- I enjoy doing trivia contests with my two sons.
