Why did you join AAOS?
I joined as a Resident to develop relationships in orthopaedics and have continued to be a Member for the education, mentorship and fellowship.
Do you currently volunteer with a committee? If yes, which one(s)?
Yes, Diversity Advisory Board.
How do you define success?
Achieving the goals set for oneself while maintaining personal health and balance.
Who is your biggest inspiration and why?
My father because was born at a time when this country presented a multitude of challenges to a person of color and was able to succeed. He was always present and has been a mentor, not only to me, but to so many individuals throughout his military career.
How has the AAOS helped you throughout your career?
It has provided educational tools and a pathway to certification, as well as a platform to present research and engage in intellectual discussion on a national stage.
What advice would you give to new members of AAOS?
New Members should explore all the resources that the AAOS provides. No matter what your long-term career goals are, the AAOS offers resources to help you be successful.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
I met and had a conversation with Michael Jordan as an 8th grader.
