Eligibility Requirements for Allied Member – Orthopaedic Team
To be eligible to become an Allied Member – Orthopaedic Team, an individual must meet all the following requirements:
- Is a licensed nurse, physician assistant, physical therapist, athletic trainer or practice administrator
- Is employed in the United States or Canada at a medical institution, academic medical center or a military facility or for the Veterans Affairs
- Is working in an orthopaedic setting under the supervision of a Fellow or Candidate Member
- Is recommended by a Fellow or a Candidate Member who provides supervision for the individual.

What You Need To Know When Applying for AAOS Membership
All applications are reviewed and approved first by the Membership Committee Council and then by the AAOS Board of Directors each September. Applicants are approved and accepted as an election class each year in October.
The full application process can take 10 to 12 months, so we encourage you to apply early.
It will take approximately 60 minutes to complete your application. You can also save your progress and finish at a later time.
Applications not completed within 30 days of the start of the application will be deleted.
Before you begin your application, have the following information and documents gathered:
- Sponsor names (sponsors must be Active AAOS Fellow Members)
- Certification and practice information
- Medical education, residency, and fellowship information
- Hospital and teaching affiliation(s)
- License(s) and practice history
- Medical society memberships
- Curriculum vitae (PDF to upload)

Membership Dues for the AAOS Allied Member - Orthopaedic Team Class of 2025
AAOS membership runs on the calendar year, January 1 to December 31. If accepted, your dues for the 2025 membership year will be due January 1, 2025. Allied - Orthopaedic Team membership is a continuous membership, meaning dues are automatically billed every October for the upcoming membership cycle.
