Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, learners should be able to:

  1. Evaluate patients with shoulder arthritis and formulate a treatment plan
  2. Compare and contrast surgical indications for total shoulder arthroplasty
  3. Determine the indications for operative and nonoperative management
  4. Acquire technical consideration in hemiarthroplasty and reverse arthroplasty for fractures
  5. Gain an understanding of the appropriate application of reverse shoulder arthroplasty, humeral head resurfacing, biologic resurfacing, and partial joint replacement
  6. Apply contemporary strategies for infection control
  7. Apply contemporary surgical strategies for pain management and rehabilitation
  8. Manage complications in shoulder arthroplasty and gain an understanding of how to avoid them
