Overall Purpose/Mission
Serve as a resource for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) in its efforts to (1) create a culture within the AAOS community that encourages and values diversity; (2) build both a membership and a leadership of AAOS that are reflective of the communities that we represent, study, and care for.
Charges

Align all activities to support execution and achievement of the mission, vision, goals, strategic objectives and metrics of the Strategic Plan and conduct all business in accordance with the Core Values as adopted by the Board of Directors.

Inform and help execute the strategy to increase diversity within the AAOS Board and Volunteer Structure.

Support a transparent volunteer selection process and training in diversity and implicit bias.

Promote a culture that embraces diversity, inclusion, and equity for AAOS membership.

Act as a connection point for orthopaedic specialty societies that focus on URM and female orthopaedists.
- At the request of the AAOS Awards Committee, provide feedback on the nominations for the AAOS Diversity Award.
Reporting Relationship
Reports to the Membership Council.
