How do I apply for a role at AAOS?

All open opportunities are listed on our Career Opportunities page. Click the link to apply and the system will walk you through the process.

Do I need to submit a cover letter, resume and my salary expectations when I apply?

We prefer that candidates include these materials at the time they apply. We love to read a cover letter that conveys why someone is interested in a particular role and in joining Team AAOS!

I am interested in joining AAOS, but I do not see a role that fits my skills. How do I convey my interest?

You can click on the “Don’t see the role you’re looking for?” link on our Career Opportunities page. Submit your resume by using the “apply for this position” button on this page for future consideration! You can also subscribe here to be notified when any new AAOS career opportunities are posted.

When will I discuss salary expectations for a role?

We ask all candidates to share salary expectations when they apply for a role. We will also discuss your expectations over an initial phone interview with an AAOS Recruiter.

I am a candidate in need of immigration sponsorship. How do I know if a role I am interested in provides sponsorship?

Applicants must already be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of work visas.

Does AAOS offer internships?

Yes! We often have internships. We post these to our Career Opportunities page when they are available.

How can I tell if a role is full-time or part-time?

AAOS only has full-time opportunities available for employment unless the opportunity is an internship.

I see multiple locations listed on the job I am interested in. What does this mean?

AAOS has offices in Rosemont, Illinois and Washington, DC. At times, hiring managers may be open to candidates working from either office location.

How are interviews arranged?

The first interview held with an AAOS Recruiter will be done by telephone. The next interview can be done virtually or in-person.

How should I prepare for my interview?

Arrive for the interview on time. Be prepared to speak about your background and qualifications, and how they apply to the role you are interviewing for. Limit distractions, as best you can. If the interview is being held virtually, we recommend that you test your technology ahead of time; AAOS uses Microsoft Teams and a link to the interview would be included in the calendar invitation provided by the AAOS Recruiter. If you have questions before the interview, please contact the AAOS Recruiter.

What is an employee referral and how does the process work?

AAOS encourages referrals from our team members, and from their networks! When an AAOS team member refers a candidate and the candidate is hired, the AAOS team member may be eligible for an employee referral bonus.

What type of work environment does AAOS have?

AAOS offers flexibility to work from the office and remotely. If an employee is eligible for hybrid work, which most are, they are generally only required to work from the office 2 days per week. Staff and managers collaborate and determine a schedule that works for them based on their individual and business goals. We work always keeping in mind our values of teamwork, empowerment, accountability, and mindset of growth. We work hard, and we always find ways to have fun and celebrate our successes!

Will AAOS have any fully remote positions available?

AAOS leverages a hybrid work environment, where staff work from their respective office location 2 days per week, and therefore we seek future colleagues to join us who are excited to work in this type of model.

What If I am planning to relocate soon?

Whether that be closer to or further away from the office, we recommend that you discuss your intent to move in your initial conversation with the AAOS Recruiter.

What if I have an accommodation need under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) or Title VII of the Federal Civil Rights Act?

The Academy does not discriminate or tolerate discrimination in employment opportunities, decisions, or practices on the basis of characteristics protected by law. If you have an accommodation need, you may notify Human Resources before or after your start date; you do not need to disclose the need for accommodation through the application or interview process. Once disclosed, Human Resources will work with you through an interactive process to determine reasonable accommodation(s).

Is there a pre-employment screen process at AAOS?

Yes. Any job offers are contingent upon the successful completion of background and reference checks. This is done for the protection of AAOS employees, members, company assets and the brand. Most often, background checks include citizenship status, employment history, education, criminal history, and any other information that may be necessary for determining your qualifications and suitability for the role.
