He has already served as president of the Orthopaedic Research Society and the U.S. Bone and Joint Initiative. He is a nationally known researcher and educator, the William A. Hark, MD-Susanne G. Swift professor and chairman of the Rush Medical College department of orthopaedic surgery, a partner and member of the executive committee of Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, and an adjunct professor in the department of materials science and engineering in the McCormick Technological Institute at Northwestern University.

World Opinion Forum Recognizes Value of Ponseti Method
More than 50 years ago, Ignacio Ponseti, MD, developed a nonsurgical method to correct clubfoot in infants through gentle manipulation of the feet followed by the application of plaster casts. He practiced and refined the technique at the University of Iowa, where he served in the department of orthopaedics from his arrival in 1941 until his death in 2009.

Submit 2014 Abstracts, Applications Now
The Central Program and Instructional Course Committees encourage AAOS members to submit abstracts for presentation and application for courses and symposia at the 2014 AAOS Annual Meeting in New Orleans. New Board Members Take Their Seats
At the end of the AAOS Business Meetings during the 2013 AAOS Annual Meeting, Joshua J. Jacobs, MD, introduced the new members of the AAOS Board of Directors. They include the new second vice-president, two elected at-large members, the recently elected secretaries of the Board of Councilors (BOC) and Board of Specialty Societies (BOS), and a newly appointed Council Chair (nonvoting seat).
