Say what you mean, mean what you say, but don’t say it mean!
Recently, the AAOS completed a follow-up of a 10-year-old survey about what the public and patients think about orthopaedists (“Low-touch surgeons in a high-touch world,” AAOS Now, May 2009). I am pleased to announce that, compared to the 1998 survey, the 2008 survey found that people are more aware of what an orthopaedist is and what he or she does.

Hubbard, MD “Healthcare reform is coming … soon,” announced Steven Ondra, MD, neurosurgeon and healthcare advisor to the Obama administration, at this year’s National Orthopaedic Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. “While the details have yet to be worked out,” he continued, “it is clear that promoting primary care is essential. There will be winners and there will be losers.” He didn’t say who would be in the latter category but he obviously felt we needed to hear that.

The grievance arose from statements made by Dr. Bright in a written report and oral deposition as the plaintiff-patient’s medical expert in a lawsuit.

The grievance arose from statements made by Dr. Graboff in a medical-legal written report to plaintiff’s legal counsel.

Ratner, MD, alleging violations of the Standards of Professionalism (SOPs) on Orthopaedic Expert Witness Testimony, Mandatory Standards Nos. 2, 4, 6, 8, and 12. The grievance arose from statements made by Dr. Ratner in a Certificate of Merit and in his oral deposition as expert witness for the plaintiff in a medical liability lawsuit.
