With a new administration and new Congress, 2017 promises to be a busy year for healthcare reform. Visit the AJRR Booth at Annual Meeting
The American Joint Replacement Registry (AJRR) is celebrating a major milestone—the national orthopaedic registry of hip and knee replacement data is now one million procedures strong! To join in the celebration, be sure to visit the AJRR booth at the 2017 AAOS Annual Meeting in San Diego. AJRR staff will be on hand to answer questions about the registry and to demonstrate the newest registry platform enhancements.

New AUCs and CPGs on the Way
The AAOS is currently working on the following three clinical practice guidelines (CPGs), one systematic literature review (a product similar to a CPG), and two appropriate use criteria (AUC). This guideline is currently in the public comment stage and is expected to be released in early 2017.

Responses to 'Women in Orthopaedics: The Attraction is Mutual'
It was with interest that I read "Women in Orthopaedics: The Attraction Is Mutual." I was encouraged by the evidence of progress presented by Drs. Cannada and Teuscher regarding more women becoming interested in training to practice orthopaedics and become leaders in the field. The data referenced by the authors show similar trends to those presented in another recent study by Van Heest et al.

Our Next Generation: The Resident Assembly and Beyond
When I gave my incoming presidential address last year in Orlando, I echoed the words of my residency chair, fellowship director, and mentor, who served as AAOS president in 1984. Keeping A Nation in Motion®, One Community at a Time
Each year, orthopaedic surgeons and allied health professionals gather at the AAOS Annual Meeting because it is a tremendous opportunity for learning and networking. Since 2000, it has also been an opportunity for attendees to give back to the communities and patients they serve. AAOS volunteers have proudly helped build 17 Safe and Accessible Playgrounds in eight different cities, creating safer places where kids with and without disabilities can play together.

AAOS Honors India as 2017 Guest Nation
The AAOS is pleased to welcome India as the Guest Nation at the 2017 Annual Meeting in San Diego. "India's selection as Guest Nation is a wonderful opportunity to increase Indian participation in the AAOS Annual Meeting," said Wajahat Jamal Ashraf, MS, international liaison of the Indian Orthopaedic Association (IOA).

AAOS Receives Highest Recognition for CME Program
The AAOS recently received an accreditation with commendation from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). The designation, which is valid until November 2022, recognizes the Academy for its continued commitment to advancing post-graduate medical education in a changing health environment and ranks the AAOS among the most prestigious professional medical societies and medical schools offering continuing medical education (CME).

New LFP Class Selected
Selected by the Leadership Development Committee, the Leadership Fellows Program (LFP) class of 2017–2018 consists of 10 new LFP Fellows. The new LFP class will hold its orientation during the 2017 AAOS Annual Meeting in March in San Diego. Created by the Board of Directors in 2001, the LFP is a one-year program, starting each Annual Meeting and ending at the following Annual Meeting.
