A few months ago, I received a copy of "Medical Marketing Demystified: Leverage the Internet to Grow Your Practice in 5 Easy Steps" by Dr. Mork is an orthopaedic spine surgeon and AAOS member. His book, published in 2014 by Krome Publishing, seeks to educate orthopaedic surgeons on the importance of a sophisticated online presence and offers some tools to help them get there.

AAOS Board Supports Amicus Curiae Brief
At its Oct. 2, 2015, meeting, the Board of Directors of the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) voted to join an amicus curiae brief that has been filed in the appeal of Montaño v. Eldo Frezza, MD, and Lovelace Insurance Company, before the New Mexico Supreme Court. The brief was filed on Oct. 9, 2015.

September Struck Chords with Readers
The letter about compensation for orthopaedic surgeons from Dempsey Springfield, MD, in the September 2015 issue indicated that orthopaedic surgeons make 10 times the median income of an American household, which is $52,000. I want to know whether anyone ever accounted for overhead and practice expenses? I practice in California as a general orthopedic surgeon with a focus on joint arthroplasty.

John Samuel Gould, MD John Samuel Gould, MD, professor emeritus, University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine, will be remembered as an author, educator, and leader by the many in the orthopaedic community who knew him. A graduate of Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass., and the University of Vermont Medical School, Dr. Gould completed an internship in general surgery at Boston City Hospital before joining the U.S.
