David Teuscher, MD, Takes Office
In an orthopaedic galaxy, noted David D. “Digital Deadwalkers” Take to the Air

Ride for the Brand
In the American Old West, the term “ride for the brand” was an expression of a cowboy’s loyalty to his employer or outfit and was considered the highest order compliment in that nearly feudal society. A man could choose to quit if he didn’t like the way the ranch or outfit was being run, and many did. But if he stayed, the cowboy was expected to give his loyalty to the brand.

John F. Lovejoy Jr, MD, Honored with AAOS Humanitarian Award
In 2010, 4 days after the devastating earthquake, John F. Lovejoy Jr, MD, and a team of surgeons and technicians arrived at Hôpital Sacré Coeur in Milot, Haiti, and began treating patients. They transformed the 73-bed hospital into a 500-bed MASH-like unit and performed more than 180 surgeries during the first week—most of them amputations. In recognition of heroic efforts like this and more than 30 years of providing health care to the underserved in Haiti, the AAOS presented Dr.

Bonnie Simpson Mason, MD, Honored with Diversity Award
Bonnie Simpson Mason, MD, is most deserving of this award,” wrote Ramon L. Jimenez, MD, in support of her nomination for the AAOS Diversity Award. Were she to win, wrote Dr. Jimenez, “I would venture to say that more than 1,000 students, residents, and orthopaedic surgeons she has directly helped throughout the past 10 years will stand up and cheer.” Dr. Simpson Mason’s colleagues did just that when she received the 2015 AAOS Diversity Award at the AAOS Annual Meeting.

The AAOS presented the William W. Tipton Jr, MD, Leadership Award to Andrew J. Weiland, MD, at the 2015 Annual Meeting. The Tipton Leadership Award recognizes Academy members who have demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities that have benefited the orthopaedic community, patients, and/or the American public. The award honors and celebrates the life, accomplishments, and qualities of the late Dr. Tipton, an orthopaedic surgeon, educator, and former AAOS chief executive officer.
