So President Obama got what he wanted, a healthcare bill. This was the first major healthcare bill to pass Congress in a long time. It seems as if the politicians were more concerned with successfully passing any healthcare bill and making history than they were with what was actually in the bill and what the cost will be. The good news is that more people in the United States will be covered by health insurance, even though their access to quality medical care may be less and more costly.

Perspectives on healthcare reform, ED call

I think that orthopaedic surgeons as a community need to develop the ability to say the magic word, which is “no.” Our founding fathers had the courage to do this when they started throwing tea off the side of a ship in Boston many years ago.
