The ABOS Institutes Online Case Based Examinations
Soon after its founding in 1934, the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS) began administering Oral Examinations as part of the ABOS Board Certification program. Although the mechanics have changed over the years, the general concept has not: orthopaedic surgeons discussing patients and surgical interventions with other orthopaedic surgeons.

OITE Will Be Offered as a Remote Examination This Year
For the first time since its inception, the AAOS Orthopaedic In-Training Examination ® (OITE), scheduled for Nov. 13–16, will be available as a remotely administered and proctored, computer-based examination. Given the ever-changing landscape of national, local, and institutional recommendations and restrictions relating to public safety, it was incumbent upon the physician leadership of AAOS to take measures to ensure that OITE administration is compliant with current public safety guidelines and provide a standardized model for administration.

Academy Reschedules AAOS 2021 Annual Meeting
The AAOS 2021 Annual Meeting will now take place Aug. 31, 2021, to Sept. 4, 2021, at the San Diego Convention Center.

Remainder of AAOS’ Educational Events for 2020 Will Be Virtual
Regularly scheduled in-person courses and events went virtual as the COVID-19 situation evolved. AAOS has taken the current 2020 in-person course schedule and translated each educational event to a virtual format.
