The newly implemented, annual “He For She” Award, given by the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society (RJOS), recognizes a male orthopaedic surgeon who serves as a strong mentor and sponsor for women in orthopaedics, supporting and empowering females at all stages of their careers to achieve their professional goals.

The namesake of the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society (RJOS) was the first female Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and the first female AAOS fellow. Dr. Jackson was a true professional with integrity whose focus was on patients, as well as educating future orthopaedic surgeons. RJOS strives to honor Dr. Jackson’s legacy through its mission statement: to provide professional development of and for women in orthopaedic surgery in all stages of their careers.
