The current system fails both patients and physicians Medical liability remains a crisis issue and a major contributor to the current problems in health care. The medical liability system has not only failed in its mission to compensate patients for injuries resulting from negligence, it is also ineffective in deterring physicians from engaging in dangerous behavior.

Sohn, Prince named 2008 Washington Health Policy Fellows
David H. Sohn, JD, MD, and Daniel Eduardo Prince, MD, MPH, are the 2008 AAOS Washington Health Policy Fellows. An assistant professor in the department of orthopaedic surgery, division of sports medicine, at the University of Toledo (Ohio) College of Medicine, Dr. Sohn earned his medical degree at the University of California, San Diego, completed his orthopaedic residency at William Beaumont Hospital, in Royal Oak, Mich.

EWI-IV continues tradition of advancing orthopaedic care
Since 2006, the AAOS, along with the Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA) and the Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons (SOMOS), has sponsored a series of symposia focusing on the impact of traumatic extremity injuries sustained by fighters and civilians in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
