About AAOS Now
AAOS Now, a news magazine published by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), serves as AAOS’ primary communications vehicle with its members. It prints 10 issues each year and is mailed to more than 27,500 orthopaedic surgeons across the United States and Canada. The digital version is emailed to more than 32,000 U.S.-and international-based members.
Each issue of AAOS Now boasts a robust blend of news on regular topics such as clinical, advocacy, practice management, research and quality, professional development, diversity, residency, and much more. Contributions from the AAOS Office of Government Relations provide an inside-the-beltway look at legislation that can affect orthopaedic practices—from regulatory requirements to new legislation to reimbursement and scope of practice issues. State legislation is also thoroughly covered. AAOS Now is the direct source for information on actions taken by the AAOS Board of Directors, such as adoption of clinical practice guidelines, appropriate use criteria, position statements, by-law updates, etc. AAOS Now also reports on all actions taken under the AAOS Professional Compliance Program.
Throughout the year, AAOS Now provides in-depth coverage of general orthopaedics and every orthopaedic subspecialty—from arthroscopy to joint reconstruction and pediatrics to trauma. Other content includes society news, industry news, and a meetings and courses calendar.
Beyond its printed pages, AAOS Now articles are regularly enhanced with online-only features such as references, resources, and links to additional information, as well as additional editorial content, figures, tables, and other supporting materials.
