The Learning Innovation Lab was founded to develop cutting-edge educational tools based on member feedback. When surveyed, members shared that:
- AAOS offers premier educational content, but access, interactivity, and personalization could be improved.
- Smaller-scale educational events with digital enhancements create better learning experiences.
- New products should be developed from multiple perspectives to meet the diverse needs of orthopaedic professionals.
With these insights, the Learning Innovation Lab team—composed of AAOS staff, Education Council leaders, and orthopaedic experts—fosters collaborative, human-centered design to develop engaging, relevant, and impactful learning experiences.
The Learning Innovation Lab has played a pivotal role in launching several groundbreaking AAOS education products, including:

- Diagnosis Spotlight: programs increase accuracy in diagnosing musculoskeletal injuries and conditions

- Recert Ready: a self-paced review program tailored for American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery recertification preparation
