Must-Attend Resident Programs Feature Diverse Subject Matter, from Fellowships to Artificial Intelligence

Residents attending the AAOS 2025 Annual Meeting can look forward to a dynamic program designed specifically for them. The meeting offers a valuable mix of educational sessions, networking opportunities, and engaging events aimed at supporting residents’ professional development and career growth.

For those seeking mentorship and guidance, the Peer-to-Peer Mentoring Program on Tuesday morning (10 to 11 a.m., Room 15A) provides a structured setting to connect with fellows and gain insights into the fellowship application process. Participants will be matched with mentors who can offer personalized advice and support.

Preparation for entering practice is a key focus of the resident program. The Starting Your Practice: Elements for Success session on Tuesday morning (8 to 9:30 a.m., Room 6A) will equip attendees with a solid understanding of CPT and ICD-10 coding. A more comprehensive session on practice management, also on Tuesday (12:30 to 4:30 p.m., Room 6A), will delve into essential topics such as billing, financial planning, job searching, contract negotiation, and the legal and regulatory aspects of orthopaedic practice.

A forum with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery on the Knowledge, Skills, and Behavior (KSB) Program, taking place on Wednesday (11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Room 6E), will allow residents to address their questions regarding board certification requirements and procedures.

A dedicated Speed Mentoring session on Wednesday morning (8 to 9:30 a.m., Room 6E) will provide a forum for residents to engage with both established experts and recent graduates, offering a chance to ask questions and receive targeted advice.

Resident involvement in shaping the future of orthopaedic education is encouraged through the Resident Assembly. The Resident Assembly Business Meeting on Wednesday afternoon (1:30 to 3 p.m., Room 6E) provides a platform for residents to connect with their peers and participate in discussions and votes concerning important initiatives.

The popular Resident Bowl, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon (3:30 to 5 p.m., Room 6A), provides a more informal setting for residents to test their knowledge, network with colleagues, and compete for prizes. This trivia-style competition offers a fun and engaging conclusion to the day’s events. The 2025 Resident Bowl is sponsored by Solventum.

The Resident Education Forum on Thursday morning (10 to 11 a.m., Room 15A) is an interactive session that empowers residents with the knowledge and tools to excel in today’s evolving landscape, covering upcoming KSB requirements, best practices for resident leadership and education, and approaches for collaborative problem solving.
