Residents, Resident Delegates, and Program Directors: Do Not Miss the Resident Assembly Education Forum

The AAOS Resident Assembly Education Forum will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday in Room 15A. The event is a unique opportunity to connect, learn, and lead. Designed for residents, resident delegates, and program directors, this event fosters collaboration and explores innovative ways to enhance leadership, involvement, and education in the orthopaedic community.

This year’s hot topic is “Call to Action: Get Involved in Advocacy,” with guest speaker Adam J. Bruggeman, MD, MBA, FAAOS, FAOA, chair of the AAOS Advocacy Council, who will delve into how advocacy plays a vital role in shaping the future of orthopaedics.

Why advocacy matters
AAOS is actively engaged in advocating for resident education and training through key legislative initiatives, such as the Resident Education Deferred Interest Act, which allows interest-free loan deferment during residency training. Through coalition efforts, AAOS has successfully pushed for expanded Medicare-supported residency positions. AAOS continues to work with bipartisan policymakers to address physician shortages, expand training opportunities, and advocate for improvements to loan-repayment programs to support the future of orthopaedics.

Your voice matters. This forum will equip you with the knowledge, tools, and connections to make a lasting impact in orthopaedics.
