The heart of any professional organization is its membership and the volunteers who give their time for the betterment of the field. AAOS is proud to have so many members volunteer their time and expertise to its councils and committees.
Engaging in volunteer service offers an opportunity to influence the organization’s future, build your network, and develop essential leadership skills, which can be applied to various aspects of your career beyond just AAOS. It is AAOS’ goal to have as many members involved in its governance structure as possible. With more than 70 councils and committees, there are numerous opportunities for broad member participation. Consider applying to serve on a committee under the Advocacy Council, Education Council, Membership Council, or Research and Quality Council.
Members who have an interest in contributing to the mission and vision of AAOS are encouraged to visit the Committee Appointment Program (CAP) website to view and apply for available volunteer positions of interest. Member username and password are required to view and apply for positions. Members should keep in mind that the CAP system is designed so interested members can view only positions for which their membership category is eligible to apply.
Please consider the opportunity to contribute your expertise by serving on an AAOS council or committee. The CAP volunteer application period is open now through Aug. 1. All council and committee positions that are expected to become vacant at the conclusion of the 2026 Annual Meeting are currently posted on the CAP website.
