John T. Gill, MD, Elected to AAOS Board of Directors

Texas surgeon John T. Gill, MD, FAAOS, was elected as a member-at-large of the AAOS Board of Directors.

Among Dr. Gill’s many AAOS volunteer positions, he served as chairman of the Political Action Committee of AAOS (OrthoPAC) for 8 years. He chaired the AAOS Board of Councilors and Advocacy Resource Committee, in addition to serving on the Nominating Committee, Advocacy Council, and Research and Quality Council.

Dr. Gill’s impact on government policy affecting the orthopaedic field has been extensive. Year after year, he has been integral to educating and lobbying members of Congress about issues such as physician reimbursement, patients’ access to care, quality, and research. He maintains focus on generating surgeon involvement in the legislative process through the OrthoPAC, the only nonpartisan PAC dedicated solely to representing orthopaedic surgeons on the federal level.

In his home state of Texas, Dr. Gill was president of the Texas Orthopaedic Association and a delegate to the American Medical Association’s House of Delegates representing the Texas Medical Association. An active volunteer in his community, he has been team physician for more than 20 years for the Dallas Independent School District, one of the largest school districts in Texas.

Dr. Gill specializes in knee surgery and sports medicine. In private practice for 35 years at Dallas Sports Medicine, he has been recognized as one of the top 25 knee surgeons in the country by Becker’s Healthcare. He holds a medical degree from University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, completed residency at University of Texas Southwestern and Affiliated Hospitals, and completed fellowship in sports medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
