This year marks the 15th annual meeting of the American Association of Latino Orthopaedic Surgeons (AALOS) that has been held during the AAOS Annual Meeting. The 2024 AALOS meeting will take place from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday in West, Room 2006. This date is a shift from the typical Friday meetings in previous years. Visit aalos.org to register for the event or become a member of AALOS.
The AALOS Annual Meeting will be an exciting event, secondary to the enthusiasm generated by the Hispanic/Latino medical students aspiring to become orthopaedic surgeons who will be in attendance as part of AALOS’ medical student program. This year, there are 45 to 50 medical students planning to attend.
The meeting will feature two keynote speakers: Armando Vidal, MD, FAAOS, chair of the AAOS Board of Specialty Societies, and Donald Barr, MD, professor of pediatrics at Stanford University School of Medicine, who will be speaking about social determinants of health.
Of equal importance to the keynotes will be the transition of the office of AALOS president from current President Mark Gonzalez, MD, PhD, FAAOS, to incoming President Ronald A. Navarro, MD, FAAOS.
AALOS membership includes not only Latino orthopaedic surgeons but also other orthopaedic surgeons who serve the growing population of Hispanic and Latino patients all over the United States. AALOS hopes to see you at the meeting as both an attendee and a prospective member of AALOS.
