Complying with industry

Orthopaedist/industry relationships are essential to the development of new devices and technologies that improve the quality of life for patients with musculoskeletal conditions. Compliance officers understand the federal and state regulations that govern these relationships and help ensure that relationships avoid any impropriety.

Tomorrow, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., compliance officers from several companies will be available to answer questions and discuss issues related to orthopaedist/industry relationships at the Industry Relations Booth, located in the Sails Pavilion. Although the officers cannot provide legal advice, they can answer questions on what orthopaedists should note in dealing with industry. In addition, AAOS members who visit the booth can complete an online survey about orthopaedist/industry relationships.

The companies represented include Biomet, Inc.; DePuy Ortho-paedics; Globus Medical, Inc.; RTI Biologics, Inc.; Salient Surgical Technologies, Inc.; W.L. Gore Associates, Inc.; and Zimmer Holdings, Inc.
