JAAOS Publishing 24 Issues Per Year

The Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the most-read orthopaedic journal in the world (according to Kantar Media Medical/Surgical Readership Study in Orthopaedic Surgery), began semi-monthly publication on Jan. 1, 2018.

The decision to increase its frequency from 12 to 24 issues per year was made after much internal discussion concerning the rapidly changing landscape of orthopaedic publishing. The goal is to serve members and the orthopaedic profession by providing even more high-quality review articles, evidence-based research articles, AAOS Clinical Practice Guidelines summaries, AAOS Appropriate Use Criteria summaries, On the Horizon From the ORS articles, and Surgical Techniques articles.
