Physeal Sparing MPFL Reconstruction Utilizing All- Suture Suture Anchor Patellar Fixation
Patellar instability is a common problem encountered orthopaedic surgeons treating pediatric and sports medicine patients. While first time dislocations may be treated non-operatively, surgical intervention in the form of medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) reconstruction is warranted for recurrent or chronic patellar instability. Reconstruction involves bone tunnels in the patella which can create a challenging problem in skeletally immature patients. We present a novel technique of MPFL reconstruction utilizing all suture patellar suture anchors to minimize the osseous disruption of the patella.
