Allgöwer-Donati Wound Closure Technique
This video reviews the indications for and technical aspects of the Allgöwer-Donati suture technique for wound closure. The Allgöwer-Donati suture differs from the classic vertical mattress suture by having a completely intracutaneous limb, which spares the epidermis. Theoretically, by avoiding the epidermis, the skin edges can be approximated with minimal alteration of local capillary blood flow. This has been shown in animal and human studies.
