Pyrolytic Carbon Proximal Interphalangeal Joint Arthroplasty Technique

The proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joint is a bicondylar joint that acts as a hinge. Flexibility and stability of the joint are important in maintaining finger motion and function. Surgical management of PIP conditions such as arthritis, instability, stiffness, deformity, and pain remains a challenge to the orthopaedic community. Implant arthroplasty is an established treatment of pathologic conditions of the PIP joint.
