Subacromial Balloon Arthroplasty for Irreparable Rotator Cuff Tear

This video examines the management of irreparable posterosuperior rotator cuff tears, with a focus on the relatively new treatment option of subacromial balloon arthroplasty. The characteristics and indications for subacromial balloon arthroplasty are discussed. A real-world case presentation is discussed, with intraoperative arthroscopic video and postoperative clinical video demonstrating the technique. Successful outcomes are associated with subacromial balloon arthroplasty. The current literature supporting the use of subacromial balloon arthroplasty is reviewed, including the European experience, compiled systematic reviews, and a recent US FDA trial in which the senior author of this video participated.
