Revision of Failed Latarjet Procedure via the Eden-Hybinette Procedure
The outcomes of the Latarjet procedure in patients with anterior shoulder instability are highly satisfactory. However, the rate of redislocation is a concern in patients with seizure disorders, especially those without seizure control, because failure may occur. In patients in whom the Latarjet procedure fails, revision surgery via the Eden-Hybinette procedure is a good treatment option, with the literature reporting good results. This video discusses the case presentation of an patient with epilepsy and severe bipolar bone loss in whom the Latarjet procedure failed. Preoperative imaging studies showed resorption of the coracoid graft. The patient underwent revision via the Eden-Hybinette procedure. Surgical revision was more challenging because of adhesions, a lack of coracoid landmarks, and the proximity of the brachial plexus. The goal of the procedure was to restore the normal concavity of the anterior glenoid with the use of an iliac crest autograft.
