Proximal Row Carpectomy With Resurfacing

Case Overview: This video highlights the efficacy of proximal row carpectomy with resurfacing for the management of Kienbock disease. Indications, contraindications, technical pearls, and potential pitfalls are discussed. Preoperative and postoperative imaging studies are included.

Method/Technique: A dorsal longitudinal approach via the third dorsal extensor compartment is performed. The proximal carpal bones are excised while maintaining the integrity of the wrist ligaments (eg, radioscaphocapitate ligament), triangular fibrocartilage complex, capitate, and pisiform. The video highlights the technical aspects of the procedure and discusses clinical indications and outcomes.
