Robotic-Arm Assisted Total Knee Arthroplasty
Although computer-assisted navigation and tactile robotic systems have been used for unicondylar knee replacement for the past decade, robotic-arm assisted total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is a new procedure. This video discusses the indications, surgical technique, and workflow for early adoption of robotic technology for TKA. Given that robotic-arm assisted TKA is a new technique, the authors of this video present the early postoperative and radiographic outcomes of patients who underwent the procedure at their institution. Preliminary data show robotic-arm assisted TKA is safe and effective, with outcomes comparable to, if not better than, those of manually-instrumented TKA.
