Direct Lateral Lumbar Interbody Fusion (DLIF) Using Mechanomyography Nerve Mapping
The advantages of direct lateral lumbar interbody fusion for indirect decompression and lumbar stabilization in patients undergoing fusion have been well described. Controversy regarding this technique centers on the risk of nerve injury associated with the lateral approach. This video demonstrates the technique for direct lateral interbody fusion and the use of surgeon-directed mechanomyography for nerve mapping.
