Why did you join AAOS?
I joined the AAOS due to what this organization provides for the growth and development of young orthopedic surgeons. The AAOS has provided me a platform for a broad range of professional development activities that has resulted in educational, research and networking opportunities to enhance my future career.
Do you currently volunteer with an AAOS committee? If yes, which one(s)?
I am currently a member of the Resident Assembly Executive Committee and Chair of the Resident Assembly Health Policy Committee.
How do you define success?
To me, success is defined by how satisfied I feel at the end of each day that I made my best effort. These efforts take on many forms - achieving tasks, helping others, learning something new, keeping up with friends and family, conquering challenges. Every season, I write out a list of goals and motivations, both big and small. I hang the list in a place where I can look at it every day and cross off items when they are accomplished. I think identifying and celebrating even the small victories in life helps keep you moving in the direction of your dreams!
Who is your biggest inspiration and why?
My biggest inspiration has always been my parents. They instilled in me the value of hard work, the importance of helping others and made countless personal sacrifices to help my sister and I reach our goals. They are beacons for the kind of person I strive to become.
What do you love most about AAOS?
I love the AAOS for the experiences that have allowed me to collaborate with orthopedic thought leaders from across the country, fostering leadership and communication skills that have been meaningful in my personal and professional growth. The connections I have made with other AAOS members thus far will continue to be invaluable now and in the future.
What advice would you give to new Members of AAOS?
I encourage all new AAOS members to get involved. Taking advantage of any opportunity will allow you to make connections and open doors you could never imagine being unlocked.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
I have an obsession with sunflowers.
