Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, learners should be able to:

  1. Understand the epidemiology of complex primary and revision total joint replacement
  2. Formulate strategies for preoperative planning of complex primary and revision arthroplasty based on relevant history, exam and imaging
  3. Recognize the classification schemes of bone defects in revision surgery and implications for implant choice
  4. Practice extensile approaches to the hip and knee, as well as techniques to safely remove well fixed components
  5. Recognize common intraoperative complications and develop a systematic way of managing them
  6. Understand various technologic adjuncts that can be utilized for complex primary and revision arthroplasty cases
