Build your skills to provide expert witness testimony.  Understand your role in medical liability and med-mal litigation cases. Faculty develops your skills in chart review, deposition, and testimony. Review the various medicolegal issues and the roles of all parties involved. Through panel discussions, mock trials, and a “court room” experience, learn to develop evidence-based testimony.

Then you’ll advance to topics on direct and redirect testimony and the unique demands placed on orthopaedic surgeons as an “occasional or frequent expert witness.”

This half-day course is a great addition to the October 26-28 course: 20th Annual AAOS Workers' Compensation and Musculoskeletal Injuries: Improving Outcomes with Back-to-Work, Legal and Administrative Strategies

At the conclusion of this course, learners should be able to:
• Evaluate the merits of medical liability and med-mal cases
• Prepare expert witness testimony supported by evidence-based literature
• Define the “standards of evidence” used by the trial judges
• Apply the AAOS Professional Compliance Program
